Modeling contact oxygenation and adhesive wear extension in axisymmetric flat circular fretting interfaces

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this study, adhesive wear extension in axisymmetric fretting contacts is simulated by applying the Contact Oxygenation Concept (COC) which illustrates influence of loadings on oxygen transport within interface. Di-oxygen flow modeled using an Advection-Dispersion-Reaction (ADR) approach was formerly proposed assuming third body as a porous medium crossed atmospheric gases. It shown that ADR model not only predictive square but also circular flat interfaces where it capable simulating partition adhesion and abrasion for broad range contact pressures sliding frequencies. Moreover, simplified analytical solution equation proven to be highly correlated with numerical experimental results.

Numerical Modeling of Fretting Wear

In this paper, a review of some techniques proposed in the literature for modelling fretting wear is presented. Fretting wear occurs when surfaces are degraded and materials are removed due to a small relative oscillatory motion between two contact surfaces. Due to the continuous change in the shape of a structure during its lifetime, the design of engineering components subjected to fretting w...

Fretting Wear between a Hollow Sphere and Flat Surface

Wear particles in a hard disk drive may cause the head/disk interface to fail. We have experimentally investigated wear particle generation resulting from fretting wear between the dimple on the suspension and the gimbal spring. We have found that increasing the normal load as well as using a low friction coating reduces the formation of wear particles. INTRODUCTION Examination of failed hard d...

NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF CRACK ORIENTATION IN THE FRETTING FATIGUE OF A FLAT ROUNDED CONTACT

The growth of slant cracks by fretting fatigue of a half plane in contact with a flat rounded pad was studied. The mode I and mode II stress intensity factors for cracks of various lengths and directions were calculated using the semi-analytical method of the distribution of dislocations, and their cumulative effect on the crack growth was investigated using the strain energy density criterion....

Adhesive contact of cylindrical lens and a flat sheet

Methods are developed to estimate the adhesion and surface free energies of compliant materials from the contact deformations of cylindrical lenses with flat sheets. Some important differences are found between the cylindrical contact studied here and the widely studied geometry of spherical contact. For example, while the pull-off force is completely independent of the elastic constants (K) of...
